Tango TX1 Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Tango TX1 different from other single-gas monitors on the market today?

Wearing the Tango TX1 with DualSense™ Technology makes you one of the safest single-gas monitor users in the world. Using redundant sensors for detection of the same gas eliminates the pain of balancing cost, safety, and bump test frequency. Additionally, with a two-year battery life, the costs of monitor replacement are eliminated and downtime is reduced.

What is DualSense™ Technology?

DualSense™ Technology uses two of the same sensors for detection of a single gas. Readings are passed through a proprietary algorithm and a single monitor reading is displayed. This decreases the likelihood of a monitor not being able to detect gas out in the field, making DualSense monitors safer than single-sensor monitors.

How does DualSense Technology make the monitor “safer” than a single-sensor monitor?

The Tango uses sensor redundancy, reducing the likelihood of the monitor’s inability to detect gas. Below is a chart that shows the monitor failure rate of a single sensor monitor versus a monitor with DualSense Technology when bump tested daily or not bump tested at all. In either case, the Tango elevates the level of safety regardless of the customer’s current bump test policy.

                                      Single-Sensor            DualSense Technology

Daily Bump Test        Failure is 1 in 1,265    Failure is 1 in 116,257 — 92 Times Safer

No Bump Testing      Failure is 1 in 286      Failure is 1 in 21,319 — 74 Times Safer

* This bump test failure data is based on records collected through iNet®, Industrial Scientific’s gas detection subscription service.

If one of the sensors fail in my Tango, can I still use the monitor?

Yes. A worker will still be protected and can continue working in the field if the sensor fails. Because of sensor redundancy, if a sensor were to fail in the field, the monitor will still continue to operate normally. In addition, if a sensor fails a calibration or a zero fault has occurred, Tango will operate the same as any other single-sensor monitor would.

Can the user change the sensor type in the Tango?

Yes. Sensors are changeable, allowing the user to convert the Tango from one gas type to another.

Can I order a Tango TX1 as a two-gas monitor?

No. The primary advantage of DualSense™ Technology would be lost if converted to a two-gas monitor. If you are looking for a two-gas monitor, check out the Tango TX2.

What is the warranty of the Tango TX1?

The Tango TX1 is Guaranteed for Life™ to ensure customers always have the highest quality monitor.
