Industrial Scientific MX6 iBrid™ Multi-Gas Monitor Receives ATEX and MSHA Approvals
PITTSBURGH, PA, USA – 13 Aug 2008 – Industrial Scientific Corporation, a global leader in gas detection and monitoring instruments, systems and related services, is pleased to announce that the MX6 iBrid™ multi-gas monitor has been approved for use in underground mines.
The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) certified the MX6 for use in the United States under Title 30 CFR, Part 22. L'Institut National de l'Environnement Industriel et des Risques (INERIS) certified the instrument to the ATEX standards EN60079-0, EN60079-1, EN60079-11 and EN50303 for M1/M2 mining equipment use in Europe.
The MX6 is uniquely designed for a variety of mining applications. Configuring the MX6 to detect carbon monoxide, oxygen, and 0-5% methane with a catalytic bead sensor makes the instrument ideal for everyday mining applications. Adding an NO2 and NO sensors customizes the unit for mines where diesel-powered equipment is used. Installing the pump and the infrared methane sensor equips the MX6 for monitoring gas levels behind mine seals. For mine rescue applications, the instrument can be configured with a high range carbon monoxide sensor, a catalytic bead methane sensor (0-5%), an infrared methane sensor (0-100%) and an oxgyen sensor. Its rugged, rubber overmolded construction and bright, color liquid crystal display further distinguishes the MX6 as ideal for harsh underground mining environments.
The MX6 iBrid is compatible with the award winning DS2 Docking Station™ and the iNet™ Instrument Network to simplify and automate calibration, function (bump) testing, maintenance and data management.
